9th february

Suede will receive the prestigious Godlike Genius Award at this year’s NME Awards. The band will collect the award and perform live at the ceremony at the Brixton Academy on February 18th.

Asked about the new album Brett told NME:
"We’re working on a new album, but it’s not finished yet and we’re still not quite sure what it is. All I can say is that I don’t want it to be like that last album: I’m very proud of ‘Bloodsports’ but you’ve got to keep changing your goals. We’re deliberately not making an album that’s just song, song, song, song - we’re trying to make an album that’s more of a journey with songs that link into each other. ‘Bloodsports’ was almost like a debut, again, and so this is going to be all about what you do on the second album…"

18th february

Suede have won tonight the "Godlike Genius" award at the NME Awards ceremony at the Brixton Academy in London.

Brett words after picking the award from the hands of Bernard Sumner (Joy Division, New Order):
"Thank you so much. What an honor it is to get this from Mr Sumner here. I spent a lot of my teenage life listening to 'Unknown Pleasures', so thank you. 21 years ago we received best band award at the NME Awards so it's genuinely touching to get this all these years later. It's been a long strange heartbreaking beautiful beautiful journey and I wouldn't change one moment of it for anything. And this is for all the people that have been with us all the way. You know who you are. Thank you for all your love, cheers!!"

Then the band played a short live set including the premiere of the new song "What I'm Trying To Tell You". This was the setlist:

Killing Of A Flashboy / Metal Mickey / Filmstar / What I'm Trying To Tell You / Animal Nitrate / Trash

22nd february

The NME have put online the full Suede performace at the NME Awards including the new song "What I'm Trying To Tell You"

25th february

Here are some extracts from interviews where the band talk about the new album:

Brett Anderson told Daily Star "the new album is “a journey”, with songs flowing into each other throughout the untitled record. It’s an album that needs to be listened to from start to finish. If I was being bloody-minded, I’d demand that iTunes list it as only having one song so that you couldn’t skip tracks on it.”

On this week's paper edition of NME, Brett and Mat also talked about the new album:
- Brett: "It's like a band's second album. It's a step away from Bloodsports and it has more freedom as a record, it's less self-conscious. There's lots of quite long musical passages on it"
- Mat: "Yeah, the record once it's done, will probably have the least of your voice on of any Suede record. It's difficult to say, but it's sounding pretty great at the moment"

About the new song "What I'm Trying To Tell You" premiered at the NME Awards:
- Mat: "it's quite untypical of anything we've written. It's just got one of those Suede choruses. I guarantee that by the time the second chorus kicks in, people will be singing it"
- Brett: "We're calling it "What I'm Trying To Tell You", but that might change"

In october 2013 Brett already told The Telegraph:
“It’s very very early days but we want to do something that is more a kind of musical journey than the last album; something that meanders more and has more space and breathes a little more musically,” citing Talk Talk’s 1988 album Spirit of Eden as an influence.

The album will also be accompanied by a full-length feature film directed by Roger Sargent starring Alex Walton, Jane Elizabeth Walsh and Tim Parker on the main roles.
The film was shot in august on location in Wales.

Speaking about the film, Sargent said: "I was asked to pitch an idea for this film project... I really had no idea what they were wanting or expecting so I tried to write in the least self-conscious way possible. The record deals with a lot of familial themes - life, death, love, anguish and despair; themes that are expanded upon in its visual companion, providing a study of how those elements affect the human psyche. It resonated with me for many reasons, not least because my mother passed away a few days after I started writing a story for the film. The film starts with a man drowning in the waters of a deserted beach at night, as he fights for life, his mind plays out the events that lead him to be there."

The album and the film will be premiered in two shows at London's Roundhouse on November 13 and 14, with the band set to play the album in full while the film is shown behind them. Tickets pre-sale begins wednesday, 9 Sep 2015 at 9:00 AM
